Peoria, IL

September 6 & 7, 2011

It was very cold when we got up Tuesday morning.  Greg even put on long jeans!

We left early to try and make time but ended up waiting at the only lock we had to go through.  There was a northbound tow coming up and a southbound waiting to go.

After an hour wait, Crossroads and I went in with the first half of the southbound tow.  Interesting!

Coming downriver we met another tow and as we passed he radioed us to watch the carp jumping off his stern.  What a sight!  Unfortunately, Kate wasn’t fast enough to get a picture.

We also passed a refurbished WWII LST at Henry.  There were a bunch of school kids swarming all over it.  Cool!

I pulled into the I.V.Y. Club about 4:40 PM.  Ron, the dock master, met us (even though it was his day off!).  Nice marina, small but well maintained.

Cool and breezy again on Wed. morning.  Glad we’re staying put today.  Kate’s doing laundry and Greg changed the oil in my generator.

Jeremiah, Seamoore, and Dream Catcher arrived about 11:30.  They will be spending the night here too!  Fun to see friends again!  They all went to dinner together and Kate said they had a really good time (hmmm?).

Early day tomorrow to see how far we can get.
